Circular Motions with Mouse: Turn Record

Concept:
This is one in a series of micro games designed to take advantage of the tactile sensation of using a laptop's touchpad. I designed games that utilized what I perceived to be the few interesting control feels for touchpad. In this example, rotational movement on the touchpad is translated to the rotation of the record on the turntable. The player is allowed to spin the record too slowly or too quickly, which gives the sensation that the movements are closely mimicked in the game. In truth, there is a "sweet spot" that locks the record to the correct speed for listening. This alleviates the need for the player to perform absolutely perfectly, making for a playable, fun vignette.

This prototype was used alongside two other micro games with an apocalyptic theme linking them together.
